Are social media wasting their time with media profiles?

Looking at the business world today, social media has taken the world by storm. Almost every company has a media profile on various social media platforms. According to Bill who wrote the blog stop wasting your time on social media says “Social media marketing is the next greatest thing”. The big question really is, are media profiles really as beneficial to a company?

“Stop wasting your time on social media and worry more about your business” (Bill, 2013). This basically means that people and businesses need to worry less about the shape of tools they use to move the businesses forward. As many companies make the mistake of posting too much information on social media initially.

Building a social media profile could be beneficial to a company as some of the best strategies come from starting slow and getting creative. For a risk free approach, you can use the social media sites and see what, if anything, your competitors are doing. Media profiles could help many companies generate meaningful articles, video’s and infographics. The goal at the end of the day is to create clients on social media network.
So, how do you decide whether to jump into the social media mix or not? Fortunately, it’s not an all or nothing decision. You have to decide on a business perspective whether it has a purpose. In order for companies to be successful it will have to be consistent to create an effective social media profile

Which is better Hootsuite or Tweetdeack? Let see which one is best!

Hootsuite or Tweetdeck. This would be the question many would ask, what makes these two social networks so signifcantly different from one another?

To start with Hootsuite and Tweetdeck represent two of the most famous multiplatform client dashboards which let us to manage not only from our desktop but from our mobile phone as well. These two social networks are similar with regards to making it possible for users to send, update and receive notifications, share files on real time, schedule posts for future publications and other functions.

So what exactly makes these two social networks so unique fro one another? Let’s tap into Hootsuite.

Hootsuite is not a desktop application; it is an online one so it is not the same to use it for Firefox or for Chrome. This is simply because it doesn’t share the same browser extension.

Tweetdeck needs to be installed with Adobe Air Package this represent and independent program on the browser and the user is obligated to download a file to execute it. This does mean that because Hootsuite is a web application, which allow the user to execute from a tab on the internet browser, sign up on the official page and login every time they want to use it. This can be done by the user using their account on Google or yahoo for example.

How is this social network supported?

Tweetdeck and Hootsuite's network support is more or less the same. The different networks Hootsuite offers are Pingfm, WordPress and Mixi, whereas Tweetdeck includes Buzz.

The differences in this case are more because of the Hootsuite version used by the user. The free version allows only manage up to 5 accounts while Tweetdeck is free with no limits.

The Messaging Process

On the Hootsuite Network you need to specify on every message to which account or several accounts you want to send the post. This however, does obligate you to make more clicks than the necessary ones and reduces productivity simply because it is slow. On Hootsuite the user must select the account from where you they would want to publish.

Tweetdeck only shows the text as you can read on Twitter, with the link but without the preview of the image as a miniature. Tweetdeck keeps you the users account active once it has been selected at all times.

Hootsuite and Tweetdeck has many similarities, however they are very unique in many ways. There are many advantages of both Social Networks; it is really up to the user to identify which network they feel most comfortable with.

We are only four in number but we will stand like a thousand

Often times, life would be great if it weren’t for other people! Yet, it’s through relationships with others that you often obtain the greatest rewards. Your office/workplace is where you spend many hours of your life, so getting along and working productively with your colleagues is very important. Unfortunately, many employees experience stress because team members argue, give each other the silent treatment or allow one person to do all the work.

Teamwork is not something that can be taught without consequences. We’d like to think we are all about Teamwork until things go wrong; then it’s every man/woman for themselves. This is the same thing that people do in marriages, relationships and in some cases, as parents.

It’s easy when everything is running smoothly but no one wants to stick around when it’s hard. According to Rhoda Sevage a business blogger “90% of the time people point fingers and go to the boss and complain about co-workers. Unfortunately, these kinds of people are rewarded”.

Bringing the “right” people together doesn’t automatically result in success. Everyone brings their own strengths, weaknesses, personalities and individual nuances. It is on those most challenging of days that our strengths and weaknesses are more visible and our true character and teamwork is tested. A strong and united team is the most important thing and will determine whether or not we succeed or fail–together.

TEAMS are built strong by three things: 1. Strong leaders.
2. People who are willing to fulfill their roles.
3. Team is willing to take care of problems internally (R, Sevage, 2012)

So, how can you find ways to get along and create a successful team you may ask? The answer is simple; trust and respect are two essential elements for building relationships in the workplace and beyond. It’s all about the relationships you have with people – which doesn’t necessarily mean friendships. Relationships are built over time, when one person has respect for another. Gradually, trust begins to build, too.

You don’t have to be a close personal friend with everyone at work, but you do always need to show each person respect and professionalism. So, when you are in your work environment remember your contribution as an individual has a major impact on the success of your team.

Capitalism my great eye opener

Just a few weeks ago, my little world was rudely awakened by Capitalism. I was living in the world with the idea that the way I am living is great, the work I do, the country I live in and the certain lifestyle I live is all by choice, right?! No I was very wrong, I was knocked down by this thing called Capitalism that I pretty much didn’t pay any attention to how it affected not only me but everyone around me. Slowly but surely this topic crept up and stucked in my mind and suddenly I wanted to know more, so I am sharing my understanding with you hoping you find it as thought provoking as I do.
Some of you might have an idea or heard about the term Capitalism, but like me, never really tapped into it. So what exactly is Capitalism? It is also known as the free market system, Capitalism requires unregulated supply and demand and little or no government interference in matters of trade. This means that each individual is free to produce what he or she wants and to sell it at whatever price the market will support. The producing and distributing of goods are owned by a small minority of people, these people are referred to the capitalist class. The majority of people must sell their ability to work in return for a wage or salary (we refer to these people as the working class you and me.)

The working class is paid to produce goods and services which are then sold for a profit. The profit is gained by the capitalist class because they can make more money selling what we have produced. In this sense, the working class is exploited by the capitalist class. The capitalists live off the profits they obtain from exploiting the working class whilst reinvesting some of their profits for the further accumulation of wealth. This is still happening today, we are still working for the big boss and if we had to start a business we will be gaining all the profits and save it as an investment.
The question that came to mind was how one get out of Capitalism? As no longer has it only become the capital class that exploits people but it seems as if ordinary people are doing it aswell. Not by choice but because it has become a way of life, it is embedded into our nature. By understanding what Capitalism is you have to understand that the profit motive is not just the result of greed on behalf of individual capitalists. They do not have a choice about it.The need to make a profit is imposed on capitalists as a condition for not losing their investments and their position as capitalists.
In conclusion Capitalism puts tremendous pressure on all of us to make money in order to survive. Hospitals, schools, prisons, “non-profit organizations, and every other institution must conform to the profit motive, or be swallowed up. It makes me think that the future may be better than capitalism, or worse, but it will most certainly be different. I hope for a world where people and ecosystems matter more than profit. However, in order to get to that world, we first need to understand how capitalism structures our world currently, and how we can overcome it.Capitalism like Michael Moore said is it really a Love Story? You decide!

“Our economy is based on spending billions to persuade people that happiness is buying things, and then insisting that the only way to have a viable economy is to make things for people to buy so they’ll have jobs and get enough money to buy things.”― Philip Elliot Slater

Social Network: Is it a positive or negative change?

Social Network has drastically changed how we communicate. Just a few years ago we communicated through  mail, a land-line telephone and face to face communication. Today we send text messages, leave voice messengers, use instant messenges, send emails, talk through headphones, cellphones and interact with the internet. In this day and age Social Networks has become a crucial part of many of us without us realizing it. We don't even notice this but as soon as we open our desktop to access the web we un-subcontiously open our favourite social network just to see the updates we have received.

There are many positives and negatives that comes along with Social Network. The positives looks at keeping in touch with your friends and relatives. According to Daniel Nations he mentions how good social media is for family and friends http://tinyurl.com/26zng7q. Social Networks has provided us the opportunity to connect with people and build a better relationship with those with whom we are unable to meet personally.

Social Networking reduce the communication barrier, we are unlimited to communicate our thoughts of a particular event that took place, bad customer service experience, we can raise our voices and share our experiences with a large number of audiences in just a few seconds.

The negative effects of Social Network looks at how extreme usage of social media can lead to isolationas it reduces the level of human interaction. "Because of social media the interaction with other people has become effortless and people have isolated their lives behind online identities". Face to face communication and meetings has been reduced and many of us has lost the charm to be together under one roof.

Many studies has shown that the extensive use of social media can actually cause addiction to the user. Throughout the day the user feel the need to post something on their pages or check others post as it has become an important part of their lives.

In conclusion, I have mentioned a few positive and negative points of social media, but it doesnt explain that social media is a good or bad thing it stand somewhere in-between.

I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions about whether social media is a positive or negative changes in our daily lives.
